Air-quality sensors in skyscrapers — and
someone else's usage on the bill.
not the network — so we replaced the hardware and took over the connectivity.

The exposure was in the hardware, not the network.
A multinational real estate management company monitors air quality across its high-rise portfolio using IoT sensors and LoRa gateways. The sensors worked. The gateways underneath them were the problem: low-end hardware with minimal security, sitting in buildings the company doesn't fully control.
Devices were getting broken into. Data was being stolen. And every month, the customer paid for usage that was never theirs.
Their connectivity provider — a competitor of ours — wasn't going to fix that, because the exposure wasn't in the network.
Worked through where the deployment was actually exposed, before quoting anything
Replaced the gateways with Peplink hardware carrying the security the environment required
Took over connectivity once the hardware was sound, saving a few points per line
The savings weren't the win. Control over their own hardware was.
Just under 1,000 gateways replaced across the portfolio
Hardware carrying the security the environment required
Connectivity taken over once the hardware was sound, at a few points saved per line
Usage the customer no longer pays for when it was never theirs

deployment is leaking usage?
